CHLA Reprocessing – Updates & Resources

What’s Happening

  • The BGC-Argo program is undertaking its first high-impact reprocessing of CHLA data to improve accuracy and usability.
  • A new physiological ratio will be applied during the Real-Time Adjustment of CHLA (Sauzède et al., 2025; DOI:10.17882/105732).
  • This adjustment will have a significant impact on BGC-Argo CHLA data, with changes by a factor of ~4 in certain areas, such as the Southern Ocean.
  • This reprocessing may have a significant impact on end-users. During the transition period, beginning in June 2026, please note that the dataset may temporarily lack homogeneity.

Current Status

  • Countdown: Visual timer tracking progress toward the June 8, 2026 implementation.
  • Progress Tracker:
    • % of data reprocessed (real-time updates).
    • Circular progress bar per DAC (starting at 0%).
  • Interactive Map: Visual representation of processed vs. unprocessed floats (→ choose two adequate colors : to do).
