WOA23: World Ocean Atlas 2023, Volume 3: Dissolved Oxygen, Apparent Oxygen Utilization, and Oxygen Saturation.
WOA23 O2, AOU, and O2 saturation is a observation-based and quality controlled global ocean mean statistical and objectively analyzed climatologies for the composites 1965 to 2022 (WOA23F) and 1971 to 2000 (WOA23N; 30 year “climate normal” time periods). WOA23F uses O2 measurements from Winkler titrations and sensor based [CTD as well as bias corrected Argo (delayed mode Argo, deep Argo, as well as BGC Argo)] totaling ~27.4 million measurements (~1 million profiles) from the World Ocean Database 2023 (Mishonov et al. 2024). WOA23N uses Winkler and CTD data only. WOA23F is compared with GLODAP (Lauvset et al. 2022), GOBAI (Sharp et al. 2023), and RB23 (Roach and Bindoff, 2023).
